Stay cool, stay calm 💦
Greetings! As summer’s intensity peaks, pitta dosha (heat, intensity) can run high - leading to irritability, inflammation, or digestive imbalance.
This week, let’s explore simple lifestyle adjustments to keep pitta in check and maintain inner cool.
Five Pitta-Balancing Practices
Ayurveda teaches that summer’s fire element can overwhelm if left unchecked. By adopting small daily habits, you can keep pitta balanced - enhancing digestion, mood stability, and overall well-being.

Stay Hydrated with Pitta-Soothing Drinks
Water with Cumin Seeds: Infuse 1 tsp cumin seeds in warm water for 5 minutes. Strain and sip throughout the day to aid digestion and cool internal heat.
Aloe Vera Juice (Small Amounts): Mix 1 tbsp pure aloe vera gel into 200 ml water each morning—cooling for digestion and soothing inflammation.
Wear Light, Breathable Fabrics
Choose cotton, linen, or bamboo to allow skin to breathe. Avoid synthetic materials that trap heat and aggravate pitta.
Midday Cooling Breath (Sheetali Prāṇāyāma)
Instructions: Roll tongue into a tube (if possible) and inhale through the tongue roll; close mouth and exhale through nose. Repeat 10 times.
Alternative (Sheetkari): If tongue won’t roll, part lips slightly, inhale with a whispering “si-si” sound; exhale through nose.
Benefit: Lowers internal temperature and soothes irritation.
Evening Wind-Down with Cooling Scents
Diffuse rose or lavender essential oils (or place a few drops on a tissue near your pillow).
Consider a lavender-mint foot soak (1 tsp dried lavender buds, 1 tsp dried mint leaves in warm water) to calm pitta at night.
Mindful Sun Exposure
Limit direct sun exposure between 11 am and 3 pm - opt for shaded walks or indoor activities.
Wear a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses to protect skin and eyes.
